NATURAL BEAUTY
The „Piva“ area is characterized by an extraordinary variety of natural forms – mountainous areas with rich pastures and forests, magnificent canyons of Tara, Piva and Sušica, and mountain lakes such as Stabanjsko and Trnovačko, which attract numerous nature lovers and adventurers from the country and abroad.
The park stands out for its richness of ecosystems and habitats. Elements of alpine flora and fauna are present on higher mountain peaks, while canyons and river valleys, thanks to the warmer air, hide traces of Mediterranean species.
Over 1,500 species of plants have been recorded in the park, including more than 80 rare and endangered species, as well as approximately 2,000 species of mushrooms. Dense forests of white and black pine, beech, fir, maple, ash and spruce create a home for many animals – from bears and wild boars to roe deer that inhabit deciduous forests.
RIVERS
The rivers Tara and Piva abound with brown trout, grayling and bream, while in the mountain lakes you can also find characteristic representatives of Montenegrin high mountain waters – newts or marmots.
